Customer Reviews

Awesome product for an excellent priceThis product is excellent for all ages, in all leagues. I have T-ballers all the way to AAAs, and they love these balls. Here are the pros and cons from all ages:Durability:I have yet to see any practice ball that survive the amount of abuses that these balls went through. We have light hitters, all the way to ball destroyers. Compared to the common plastic training baseballs/wiffle balls, these balls have yet to have a visible dent anywhere. We still have dozens of plastic ball halves, used all sort of glues to bind them for extended usages. However, those went into the recycling bin after a week of usages, freshly brought. For $20 a dozen, these outlast the $8/dozen hands down. We've already spent over $100 of the cheap plastic, including the heavy duty plastic versions. Should have invested in these first.Impact feedback:Incredible impact feedback. Unlike the light impact like the cheaper plastic, these collapsed, creating a longer period of kinetic transfer from bat to ball, leaving a much great impact feedback of where the bat came into contact with the ball, and how much energy was transferred. Everyone was quite impressed, and shocked the first 50 times they hit the balls. The loudness of the stronger impacts continually put huge smiles on those who know the importance of instant feedback of impacts.Travel distance:The harder you hit, the less the distance the balls traveled. It was quite amusing to see T-ballers and minor league 8-years old slammed the balls, and launched them over 80ft, while the AAs and AAAs greatest impacts, creating thunderous sounds, only manage to launch the balls 30ft out. So, the stronger you hit, the less you will need to run and collect the balls.Impact pain:I can't say the amount of pain of getting hit by these balls are less than the stiffer plastic balls. However, these impact balls don't bounce far away once they hit you, leaving a very little red mark. Stiff plastic balls leave nice dark circle marks, and bounce quite far away from you. No need to travel far to grab these balls if you get hit by them.Colors:Why black? Why dark yellow? I can understand if we're practicing during super sunny day, but, I rather have a nice dark red on bright yellow/orange so we can retrieve them more efficiently. It's so hard to find them in the bushes, tall grasses, and the shadowy areas if the balls' yellow surface is on the bottom. Took us a good long while to retrieve them all because of the color scheme issue.Weight:We, the coaches and pitchers, love the weight of these balls. They're not so light that it became difficult to throw in light wind (8mph), unlike the cheap stiff plastic balls. They're perfect enough to throw in the wind, with the right amount of weight to know the throw will be accurate enough to place them in the strike zone the way you want. I throw both left and right hand, and these make my pitches much, much easier, especially for small 5-years old T-ballers. An ounce heavier should be perfect, even if I have to pay $5 more for the plastic used.Size:Can't complain. Perfect for all pitcher sizes. However, if SKLZ can make these balls into the size of the golf balls, I'll gladly purchase 10 dozens. I want these balls positive attributes at a smaller sizes to train on batting accuracy and honing players' focus.Overall impression:Never again will I buy the cheaper stiff plastics, even when they're on sale at $3/dozen. Wish SKLZ can provide better color scheme, heavier balls, and smaller sizes. 4Using as starter ball for a toddler, can withstand a dog biting it.I got these for playing catch with my toddler while my border collie is around. They wash off clean and dry off well (unlike a tennis ball) but can withstand the dog catching them when my son doesn't. It seems to fly farther than an old hard plastic wiffle ball, but much safer for young kids than a real baseball. When my son graduates to throwing a real baseball, these will be relegated to batting practice only, but for now we use them for catch. I would not recommend using it specifically as a dog toy, but you can crush it easily without it cracking, so seems safe for the dog's mouth. The dog is great at catching, and he intercepted a few baseball throws and I was worried it would knock a tooth out. These seem to solve all the problems because the tennis balls were getting soaked with dog slobber. 5High quality, but the color is a real problem.I'm pleased with the weight and quality. These throw true and provide good feedback. The big problem with them is the color. If you are only going to use these in your backyard and you keep your grass nice and tight, then you'll probably be fine. But I often use these at a park where the grass height is, let's just say, variable. If these land black side up, it's a challenge. We've only lost one, so it's not a disaster, but we've also spent a fair bit of time canvassing.Rukket makes red ones that I prefer because they are much easier to locate. 4Hitting off the tee in the cold. Pros ConsPros: They are flexible and can take a beating. Hitting off the tee in 30-40 degree weather showing no cracking or problems. Decent feed back with bat strike. Initial flight off the tee is normal, so you can tell where the bat strike was. I see little risk of injury using these balls.Cons: Travel distance. My 12 yr old son parked two in the spruce trees at about 50ft away.Weight. I wish they were a little heavier for batting, retrieving out of trees, throwing (wouldn't recommend this).Black as a 50/50 color should be changed. 4Stay Away! They get warped really fast!I've only had them for about 1.5 months, and just look at the picture. I just left them out in the yard, as I would a whiffle ball, and they basically get warped really easily. I bought two packs and almost all of them look this way. It's too late for a refund now b/c it's past the one month period. I would really stay away from these balls. I should have refunded them right away as soon as I saw a couple of them get warped.Basically the black side of it gets melted very easily, warping the whole ball. 1Good buy for the quantity and priceGood buy for the quantity and price. But if you are really really limited on space search "weighted limited flight balls" if you have a decent yard these are awesome and weigh almost nothing compared to the weighted ones I have. Both are great for batting practice in town with houses so close to each other. These went about 10-15ft for my 9yr old hitting. I did the same hitting with a one handed swing at about half strength(I'm 5ft and weigh 120). So keep in mind for older kids and other adults, they may go farther. 5These are great for improving hand eye coordination in a young kid ...These are great for improving hand eye coordination in a young kid so he can make contact and avoid strikeouts. These mini balls work great in the Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Blue Flame Pitching Machine (I set the machine on 5 for fly balls, 4 on the handle, and 8 on the speed, and position the machine about 43 feet from home plate). I got 96 of them and can rapid fire a long round of batting practice to my 8 year old son with them. He uses the skillz skinny bat (both the heavy black 30oz version and the white 12 oz version - start with the heavy bat then switch the light bat when he gets tired). It really improves hand eye coordination. If you can hit mini balls with a skinny bat, you can make contact with regulation size baseballs with a real bat all day and never strike out. At first it will be very difficult, the kid may make contact with only 5 to 10% of the balls, but will very quickly get the hang of it and starting making contact with 40 to 50% even. 5They are great! Much better than any other type of wiffle ...I am the board President for a large travel baseball organization in the suburbs of Chicago. We use these wiffles for all of our younger travel teams from 8u thru 13u. They are great! Much better than any other type of wiffle out there on the market. We have been through many different types of wiffles each year... we litterally order over 100 per year for all of our teams. Now that we are using these SKLZ wiffles we are not having to constantly replace wiffle balls each and every year. They are fantastic! 51) One won't break a window playing ball with these ...1) One won't break a window playing ball with these in the yard [the gf loathes when I pitch to my tween daughter and she bangs em off the house but she knows the windows & house won't suffer any damage]2) They last3) The only downsides are : () windy days () so light that the bat doesn't react properly on contact (hence most kids will be able to follow through and drive the ball to their respective strongside rather than hitting to the opposite field) but that's not worth downgrading the rating since the primary purpose on these balls is safety and swinging away :) 5This ball will last and keep it's shapeYou get what you pay for. I've been hitting these balls for 2 years and they still work fine. The cheaper balls I bought were broken and lopsided within days. Spend the extra money it is well worth it in the long run. They also are less effected by the wind. A bull dozer ran over some balls when I had work done on my land and they still survive. The bad reviews I read are not accurate. I'm 62 and I don't hit long drives but I can hit this ball up to 45 yards with my driver. So people who say 25 feet are not telling the truth. They don't get real high in the air that is true but compared to all of the other practice balls I've tried they are the best and they do stay in control in medium winds. You can draw and fade them also. I learned how to draw my irons using these with my lob wedge. They work great for me. 5
