Customer Reviews

Excellent quality stakesGreat tent stakes. Same or better than the ones they change like $5 each for at the big box sporting goods store. They are quite long so make sure you visualize how long 10.5 inches is and that it will suit your needs. In my opinion it is a good length. Long and strong enough to secure my large canopies, but light enough that carrying a dozen or 2 isnt cumbersome. Generally the stakes provided with tents/canopies are trash that are too short and thin and bend easily. I always immediately trash them and use stakes like these.I dedicated a heavy duty canvas toolbag to holding my stakes, rubber mallet and spare ropes and such. They are sharp enough to easily poke through any type of normal fabric bags, but big box hardware stores have heavy duty toolbags that will do the job for under 10 bucks. The plastic hooks/eyes are convenient for tying down tent lines and are quite durable.I'm pleased with my purchase and if the price is right, definitely recommend these. 5Very solid - held in 50mph wind gustsOver the holidays we spent a few nights at Joshua Tree National Park and had some very strong continuous winds and gusts up to 50mph. We used these stakes instead of the light backpacking stakes provided from Marmot. Those are pretty looking and efficient on weight but just don't have the strength to be pounded into driven dry desert ground deep enough to hold for the winds of that strength. These on the other hand were super solid and didn't budge under the strain of hard rains & strong winds.I'll be ordering more for use with our dining rain fly. 5We like them!I bought these to replace the cheaper weak pegs that came with a hunting blind I purchased. These receive super high marks with me! They are strong, the length is very good at 10.5 inches. To prevent breakage of the plastic tops while pulling them from the ground...we tied a strong twine (Baling twine) using a Millers knot around the peg just below the head. Then we ran both loops up thru the plastic cap head and tied the loops together to form a loop. This elimanates breakage of the plastic top and makes it very easy to remove from the ground. We have never used a peg puller on these once we modified them with the loops....we pull them out by hand. I have purchased two bundles of these as my friends wanted them also. WDBA A good thing! Enjoy your week! 5Great for light applicationsI have problems with these stakes, but that is entirely due to the fact that I am using them for things other than what they are intended. As a tent stake, these are fine, provided you aren't camping in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The plastic head on these is the weak link here, particularly when it is cold. They become brittle and will break, and I've had to leave several in the frozen ground. I've also found that they will bend rather easily for a larger stake, but again, I am really beating these things and putting them through their paces. In typical applications of securing a tent in fair weather or anchoring something at the beach, I am sure they would be perfectly fine. 4Very sturdy! Really like themI brought these along for camping for the weekend. We obviously have some for the tent, but I wanted to bring some along to create a small shaded area for our dog. I opened these up and saw how heavy duty they were! These babies did not move once they were in the ground. We barely had to use a rubber mallet to drive them in. They are heavy, so if you are backpacking or something, then meh probably not your first choice. BUT, if you are driving to campsite and need some extra tent stakes, these are a great option! 5Greenhouse Secured, Good MetalThese are working great to keep my small greenhouse secured to the ground. About two months ago I had my small greenhouse (plastic cover, some thin metal poles - nothing fancy) setup. Within a few days, a storm had tossed it to the other side of the yard, since it wasn't secured to the ground (no stakes came with it). So, I popped on amazon (my local HD only had the yellow plastic stakes) and bought these. These things have some good weight to them. The plastic head, which mine turned out to be a darker green (some reviews mentioned lime), is okay and I haven't had any trouble with them for my use.I've moved the greenhouse twice, pulling them from the ground without issue (wasn't too hard or too easy to do). My yard is soft enough that I can push them in about half way with my hand and all the way with my foot, so getting them down was no problem. The plastic piece, thankfully, fit perfectly over the small bars of the greenhouse. My alternative was to secure it to the stake with some mason string, but that wasn't necessary. I'm not sure how getting them up again will go (I put four in) since I'm sure the plastic gets weaker as the sun and the elements wear on it, but I don't see me messing with them in the near future. Plus, they did just fine against some ~25 mph winds the other day, so I'm happy with them so far. With the plastic heads, I wouldn't recommend paying over a $1 per stake, but if you get them for less, it isn't much of a loss if they break, which will probably happen less if you use it on something that will be stationary for a while - like a greenhouse. That being said, I'd refer to some of the other reviews if you are looking for a more mobile application. 4These will get the job done.At 10.5" long, these are some heavy duty stakes that are going to work well with piercing into some of the more rocky ground that we usually hit during our camping trips. The galvanized steel is plenty durable and the length of these will help in securing it throughly. The heads have a thick PVC hook and hole that allows for attaching guide lines. Whether plastic or metal, these will always get abuse due to the fact that this is where you are pounding them into the ground. While the PVC looks thick and durable, it certainly isn't invulnerable. I suggest using a rubber mallet and if they do happen to break there is always the possibility of using a flat washer up against the head to wrap the rope underneath as a backup option. Pleased with these as they are a bit thicker and longer than some of the others that I have currently. 4Good Anchors for CanopyVery nice long stakes...I purchased these for my 10'x10' canopy. I use (2) per leg and have NOT had an issue keeping the canopy secure on the ground through a couple of very exciting windy thunderstorms. One night in particular, a thunderstorm hit about 4AM, I have my tent pitched a the edge of the canopy. I had lowered the canopy down to the lowest height previously before sacking out. The Caddis Sport Rapid Shelter does not lock in the lowered position. The wind gusted and raised the canopy to the full up position and the spring-loaded detentes locked in place. However these stakes did not pull out of the ground or even loosen after a significant amount of rain. I actually recorded video when I was awoken by all the racket, thinking this may be the final record of what happened to me...:). I also lowered the canopy back down to prevent the wind from picking it up...Photo is of the carnage observed after day-break, the canopy (left) next door did not survive...A lot of choices out there, these are well built, heavy duty and do not have any flaws to complain about, to date... 5Best stakes ever ...I've been camping with friends for a few years now. We go at least 2x per year. Some of our original equipment tents spikes were rather flimsy and have been bending on rocky soil. This trip, I ordered several new kinds to try them out. These stakes are far and away the best choice. They are very sturdy, so we weren't afraid to really drive them into the ground. Our tents are not the pop up kind ... so the tent can put a lot of pressure on the spikes when full or during a storm. Usually, at least one or two spikes come out of the ground. These went in easily and stayed put. What a difference! We're buying another spare set! These are kind of heavy, so nothat great for a backpack camper. Also, no carrying bag ... but what a great deal!!! No breakage pulling them out of the ground ... we were just careful. Wish I would have bought these sooner!!! 5Happy camper herePut these to the test this weekend. Went up to northern Michigan where the ground is already frozen and I knew my normal tent stakes would not cut it. I used the back of my hatchet to drive these into the ground and they worked perfectly. They held all weekend through sun, wind, and storms with winds in excess of 45mph at its worst. They came out of the ground with ease.I camp all year long 15-20 times and I can see the plastic breaking at some point, but with how great the price is I will be fine with replacing every few seasons. 4
