The Super 7 RD from Rossignol is a burly big mountain ski thats designed for competitive freeride skiers and/or skiers that demand high performance and stability while charging down steep off-piste slopes. People often wonder what the RD stands for. It refers to the fact that this ski is built using Rossignols Race Department Sandwich Construction. This gives it excellent torsional stiffness and power. Combine this strength with the skis 30 m turn radius and the fact that its only available in the 190 cm length and youve got an aggressive ski that needs to be skied with some power and speed to make the most of it. The 120 mm waist width gives this ski both great float as well as increased stability in chopped up snow. It tracks super well even when youre charging through chunder, yet the Carbon Alloy Matrix, Rossignols Air Tip, and the Paulownia wood core all work together to bring the weight down compared to some manufacturers big mountain skis. This makes it a bit more maneuverable and easier to throw around than a lot of purpose-built big mountain skis. Its one of those skis that if you dont know what youre looking at, its probably not for you. On the other hand, if you know you want a burly big mountain powder ski, this is just about as good as it gets.
