Customer Reviews

Good Duty Boots for LEOs, COs, and Soldiers.Comfortable and durable. They hug my feet and have great ankle support.Something to remember is that these are Duty Boots and not Work Boots. They are designed for support and comfort and protection from normal situations a Soldier or LEO might encounter not a heavy machinery operator. They are not steel toe, they do have a decent amount of padding which means they are warm but I wouldn't recommend them for arctic situations.I have walked on ice, through oil, soap spills, and just plain wet floors and can say they are really nonslip, I never lost footing or slid even a little other than on some super slick ice.I have tested then in snow and walking through puddles and my feet stayed dry.All in all I am happy with these boots and will likely buy another pair when these wear out.4Good boots.I purchased these as a replacement pair for my brother. I don't quite understand how he does it, but my brother just DESTROYS foot wear. Average combat/tactical boots usually don't last longer than 2 months with him. To put this in perspective, I stand 6'4" tall and weigh in around 270lbs. My brother is 6' tall and weighs 180. We're both active, both wear combat boots daily, and live in the same area. I tend to put ridiculous stress on my footwear (90 turns at a dead sprint, hard-drops, etc.) but I've had the same pair for over 4 years. My lighter brother, doing less footwear-destructive activities, still manages to break soles, blow-out side zippers, and tear the uppers from the foot-bed of most boots. I bought a pair of these Alphas for him as a gift roughly 3 years ago. Imagine my amazement as they continued to outlast any previous boots by a wider and wider margin! The original pair was finally giving in to the inevitable, so I bought this pair to replace those wildly well-made originals. He likes the new pair even better! I believe that this is a safe buy for anyone that wants a solid pair of comfortable boots that will stay strong.5I hope this break-in period doesnt take too longOK, let me first say I LOVE my Rocky hunting boots! I have some tall lace up boots that are UBER comfortable. I bought them on Ebay used, so they were all broke in.But these new duty boots.....wow...like slipping on bricks! They are heavy duty, well built, waterproof footwear, but man, are they stiff! They have a heel cup that seems to curl in, pressing on the foot just below the ankle bone, above the heel. It pinches pretty tight when you first put them on, but after a few hours wear, they seem to loosen up a bit. They're new boots, and have little...NO...give over the toes when they're new. I've had them a couple of weeks now, and it is getting better, but still have sore toes on top, just at the first joint.Stylish they ain't. They are polishable, and take an awesome shine, but they have the old paratrooper look about them. I thought they looked a little more modern in the picture. The tread on these things is deep. They provide excellent traction in the mud and wet grass. They are, however, a little slick on wet floors. The sole is quite a bit wider than the upper, and give the boots a good solid, however ugly, base.I've only had these boots in winter conditions, and they have been plenty warm in the snow, with just one pair of socks. I have yet to see if they'll be too hot for summer. In conclusion, if you want a tough outdoor boot in black, that will polish up for duty use, these are great. If you're looking for more of a "tactical" look, and a light boot, these probably won't do for you.3Great duty boots!I wear these 12-14hrs a day 3-5 times a week and they are great, great duty boots. They are easily broken in, I wore them for maybe 10hrs total before my first 12hr shift, and they didn't hurt my feet. The zippers are a bit stiff but wear in after a few days of wearing them. The water proofing is very good, I have dumped the equivalent of several buckets of water on them and my feet stayed dry. I would recommend these. Food for thought, if you are comparing these and the composite toe model for duty boots, a buddy got the composite toe and he says they are hot and get warm and uncomfortable. So I would say unless you really need composite toe for whatever you do for work and would wear these boots to do, do not get the composite toe.5Great boots.I have been using these boots for work, play, motorcycle boots and daily wear for over 20 years. Every year I buy a new pair only for work. 1 year old Work boots turn into play/hiking/motorcycle and quasi daily wear in fall and winter. The old ones in that position turn into year round yard and home work boots. After that, they are well worn out, falling apart and placed in the trash. About 10 years ago they began running tight and the sole was also a touch smaller. I contacted Rocky directly and they bounced my concern around to the manufacturing people and I was on the active email string. I sent them pictures of my concern and they took interest. They thought it was a part of some manufacturing process. They explained they would stretch out naturally and if they didn't or I wasnt happy, I could return them without issue and if I chose, I could start ordering wides to address my concern. I kept the boots and just wore them pretty loose for the first week. Only using the zipper from then on out to judge tightness and to take them kn and off. Set the laces and be done. As they stretched in the third week and the next few, I would gently tighten up the laces until they just fit like a glove. They are perfect the rest of the year. I need boots for work and my Agency doesn t supply them so I get to claim the new pair on taxes every year. I also contribute this yearly pair to better foot, knee, leg, hip and spine health as the boots support system is new every year. The new boot absorbs shock and properly supports my body while running and other work related activities. All in a wide variety of weather and other conditions my life and health depend on. I am former USMC Infantry prior to LEO. I know good boots are very important. I trust these in all conditions and it would take A LOT for me to buy anything else. I also greatly dislike wet feet and the waterproofing in these boots have kept my feet dry in all non-submersive conditions. At the same time, they breath very well and my feet aren t overly sweaty for yearly weather or activity conditions.5Beware the Seller! Rocky boots are fine Product when they fitAttempted to returned but was screwed by seller. Rocky makes some great Boots but these do not fit me correctly. Seems I am stuck with them! Don't get stuck order from someone other than ://[...]The Seller was given an out by Rocky Boots but chose instead to quote Amazons return policy and to ignore the customers request for help.I would suggest that if the choice is to deal with OutdoorEquipted or walk barefoot through broken glass that the later is less painful.1Swell Tac Boot,Great Price.Just got these aggressive tac boots yesterday. Wore them to work and need to continue the break in time. I have unique feet and buying all types of foot wear can be challenging. However, day 2,at the mid point of my OT shift, the pressure on my right outside ankle bone is beginning to subside. I think all will be fine in a week or two. I love the look of these boots and the sale price was awesome. I had these boots in my cart for months and just got around to getting them. I do tons of research and yes, there were better products like 511's and Bates but none that looked as aggressive and cool as well as waterproof and slip resistant as the Rockys. The down fall I potentially see is the sole being glued. Other than that these boots are really nice. I ordered a 10.5 wide. I should have purchased an 11 wide and they should definately come out with a double wide if that is a possibility. Overall, they are a nice snug fit and there is plenty of room for stretching without losing stability. 4 out of 5 from me. Longevity has yet to be seen and winter is coming. Glued sole my main disappointment. Would buy again as of right now.4Terrific, heavy duty boots for all occasionsI normally do not review any items on Amazon, but with these boots, I had to chip in my two cents. I originally bought a size 10 1/2 in high school, and bought a second pair 4 years later, size 12W. These boots are, quite literally, the best and most useful item of clothing I have ever owned. They are top tier quality and work for every occasion.Pros:Zipper that allows you quickly take on/take off these boots without touching the laces onceWaterproof up to the top of the zipperDeep, thick treads that give a true grip while hikingExtremely comfortable due to orthodic-like paddingQuite fire resistant (I've had to stomp out a few fires and I've only ever felt the heat ABOVE the bootline)Boots start out looking great and seem to look better with wearCons:Get this boot in WIDE and a SIZE LARGER than you normally wear. The sizing appears to be a bit off. I wear a size 10.5W, but I got my second pair of boots in 12W because I knew of this issue from my first pair.To sum up, these boots are absolutely tremendous in every aspect- I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and they have yet to let me down.5Awesome boot for the money!I am a work boot connoisseur and I LOVE these boots. I work outside - processing firewood, welding, loading trucks in the rain and also inside at high end special events. These boots hold up to hard work, have a very agressive tread, are waterproof, and with the zipper feature its easy to appease the wife to remove boots at the door and not track in dirt. They're perfect!ALSO, as long as they are clean and polished, they can pass for dress shoes under nice jeans or pants - yet you are still wearing badass boots! I love that.I went on a week trip in February to Warsaw Poland and these were the only shoes I brought on the trip. They unzip and remove easy at airport security, they were warm and dry walking around in city on rainy/snowy days, and then at night looked great going out to dinner.I've spent $300 on boots before and I like these better. I even bought a second pair to keep nice. You won't be disappointed.Oh, I think they run a little small? I normally wear a size 9 but with these boots size 10 is perfect for me.5Update: Poor boots with good service.Update 03/19The replacement pair did the same thing. The inner liner around the heel cup ripped open about 8 months into wearing the new pair. The waterproofing membrane went next. I was left with pressure sores on my the side of my heels from the hard rough plastic heels cups rubbing on my foot. I glued a sheet of my kids project foamies onto the cup and that helped for a while. I believe that the tearing comes from the lack of a finger loop to help you pull them on. I switched back to Danner. Sorry Rocky, I tried hard to love this boot. They are a nice boot that you rent for $10 a month, then you throw them away and rent a new pair.Update 06/17:I contacted Rocky again. I have received excellent Customer Service. No more canned responses. They ask me to take pictures of the damage inside the boot. After they reviewed the photos, Rocky sent me an RMA and paid to ship them back. This morning I was informed that the new replacement pair is already enroute ! ! !The reviews below were made when the company was giving me the initial run around, and responding with only canned answers. Markita and Dawn at the CS department have been great! Ladies, Thank you. I am now a VERY HAPPY Rocky customer. They stand behind their product. I still LOVE this boot, and will gladly wear the new pair every day. I changed the rating to 5 stars.Buyer beware!I purchased these boots 14 months ago. They were the best fitting, best feeling boots out of the box that I have ever owned. They have been reliable and super comfortable boots ever since. The tread is still good, and they take polish well.NOW, however, the fabric lining on the inside of BOTH boots has failed, come apart, and exposed the moisture membrane. When I contacted Rocky, so far, I have been told that their ONE YEAR warranty is hard and fast with NO SOLUTIONS outside that time frame. This is severely disappointing. I still love these boots, but if they fall apart RIGHT AFTER the warranty expires, then it is just like a lemon car!I have asked Rocky for a solution, but to date have only received the canned answer about the warranty policy.2
