Customer Reviews

Perfect size, nice mobility for my beginner skateboarder.6 yr. old grandson wanted a skateboard. So, for his kindergarten graduation I wanted to purchased a study, well made board, but not break the bank. This met my expectations. It is nice and works well for my little beginner. Highly recommend. 5Perfect for younger kidsIt's great for my 9 year old son, but I was disappointed in the wheel color. I bought the black board with yellow wheels. The wheels in the picture look bright neon yellow, but the wheels in person are more like a school bus yellow. 4Take On Your College Campus!Note: I am not an avid "skater," just an average adult joe, who weights 145lbs, who likes to cruise on skateboard.I go to a large campus and I can only walk so fast. Before I got this penny style skateboard, I owned a traditional "trick" skateboard to get around, but I hated lugging it around because of it's size, and I'm not a fan of the loud rolling noise the hard wheels make. To me it sounds obnoxious and I'm not looking to attract attention while I ride.I actually bought three Penny style skateboards of different prices (The Original Penny Board for $68, Rimable for $29.99, and High Bounce for $39.99), and chose Rimable because of it's quality and price. Here's my take on each.--The Original Penny BoardI'll be honest, this board had the smoothest and longest cruise of all three boards. Riding it was like gliding through a wave of butter, being spread across a stack of fresh, hot pancakes. Yes, it was that great, but on a college budget, shelling out nearly $70 dollars for a board I occasionally used was hard to justify, especially when the Rimable board came second in the best ride, and I'll get to that in a second.--The High BounceWith this one being $10 dollars more than the Rimable, I thought it's performance would be a no-brainer, but I realized a $10 difference doesn't guarantee a difference in quality. The reason I didn't go with this one was because it was too flexible under my weight. Just by standing on it, I could feel it flex under my weight, and while I wasn't worried it would break, I was more concerned that it would interfere with my riding. The ride on the Rimable and High Bounce were close, but that doesn't matter when you weigh as much as I do or more, and have the board bend under you.--RimableThis one was jusstttt right. Not too expensive, not poor in quality. The board could hold my weight as well as the Original Penny Board, and was only a tad-bit less smoother, but I forgot about it once I returned the Penny Board. At a fraction of the price, this also felt like a steal. Unless you absolutely have to have the Original, you can't go wrong with the Rimable.UPDATE: 5/14/2106After having this board for over 5 months, I've come to love everything about it and am bumping up my review to 5-stars. The main reason I kept my previous rating to 4-stars was because, when compared to the Original Penny board, it doesn't glide as far, but as the weeks passed, glide mattered less to me, especially since I used it more for outdoor travel.Man, what me and this board have been through. I've had more than my fair share of trip-ups, spills, and falls on it, and in the end, my board is just as reliable as when I first purchased it. Overtime, it has gained a number of scuff marks because of my clumsiness, but that hasn't compromised the stiffness of the board. The wheels and metal "thingies" (Shows how much of an amateur I am) are still working well. There's no rust on the metal because it is aluminum, and the rubber wheels will get dirty if you're looking to ride it outside (just a heads up).Note: Because of it's short length, it's stability does becomes harder to control when riding really fast, like down steep hills. I may or may not have had to bail out a couple of times (whilst screaming in terror) when taking it down a really steep hill. So if you're an amateur like me, be careful. 5Strong and Smooth, but you'll want to get new bearingsGreat board. I'm a 5'11" 160 lb man. I got this board over 6 months ago. I'm at college, so I ride it almost every day. It's never given me any problems. The bearings that came with the board were a little tight, and it took some effort to get my speed up, so I spent $9 on some Bones Reds. This thing is fast and smooth now. I've never felt like it was going to break at all. It's smooth over bumps and riding off curbs. For the $30 or whatever that I bought it for, I couldn't be happier! 5Great product. I tested it over the weekend and ...Great product. I tested it over the weekend and it rounds great. Supports me well at 175lb and is a nice little cruiser overall. My only complaint is the paint job. I though the plastic deck comes in different color but it's not the case. The plastic deck is actually white and painted over in different colors. The paint comes off easily at impact. Just FYI. 4Misleading design picturesI ordered the galaxy 5 design, what I received looks very different to the design that the seller advertised. Namely, the colours are much, much lighter and the "galaxy" is on the opposite side. The bottom of the board is equally ridiculous looking. I would advise people not to buy from this seller as you really don't know what kind of design you will receive. 1Yes!Perfect skateboard for a new rider. My 5 year-old son was pushing and riding within 30 minutes. Lightweight but durable, nice fat tires to help prevent crashes from tiny rocks and great color. (We got green). I'm not really sure what anyone would have a problem with unless they were a professional or their kid was extremely skilled (and even then I still think it's pretty solid). If you're just a regular family with a kid interested in skateboarding and you don't want to break the bank, this is your board. 5One StarThree days after the return window closed, the board broken into two. My son weighs about 70 pounds. 1Great Buy, Especially Considering Price PointGreat, especially for the price. My 9yr old loves it and he is happy playing with his friends despite this being a less expensive model than other penny boards on the market. Originally he was hesitant when we ordered it, but he is very satisfied and receives a lot of compliments from friends. He has not mentioned getting one of the more expensive models. We have used it a decent amount over the last month and it appears to be sturdy and durable. Highly recommend. 5Fantastic penny board for the priceI got this as a board that I can throw in a bag when I don't feel like lugging around a longboard. I'm 6'4" 230lb, so it is almost comically small for me, but it has no problem supporting the weight. To go point-by point:Deck - stiffer than a penny, but otherwise identical.Trucks - came too tight for my taste, but they work fine.Bearings - on a scale of 1(Walmart) to 5(Bones), they're a 3. They roll OK, and they may work a bit better when broken in, but I swapped them out. They're worth slapping on my rain board. It's also worth noting that they came over-tightened; definately back the nuts off a bit before riding so the board can roll.Wheels - on the harder side, same size as a penny.I am very pleased with this board, it does exactly what I got it for with no problems. 5
