Customer Reviews

Looking for a Bownet? Buy the Powernet Instead.I coach city league girls fastpitch. I was issued a bownet with my team gear and loved it. I decided to buy one to have year round. I saw this Powernet on Amazon at a great price. I didn't know the brand and was concerned about quality but decided to take a chance. I am very glad I did. The quality is excellent and greatly exceeded my expectations. It's easy to put up and use, and it came with the Strikezone attachment which is perfect for both my son and daughter to practice their pitching. Very pleased with this purchase. 5Exactly what my 8 year old was looking forI bought this set for my 8 year old son who developed an obsession with baseball in the last year. He is primarily a catcher, and wanted this to work on both his catching and hitting. I researched nets extensively and felt that this one was the best fit for us, based on both features and reviews. Within an hour of it arriving, my son had built it and transported it outside. It was super easy to assemble for him, although he did need an adult to attach the top most loops for the net and strike zone indicator. As far as performance, this has been exactly what we were looking for. It's well built, easy to use, generously sized, and did not tip over, even though it was a very windy day. The pouch was really great for keeping his baseballs contained, and the strike zone indicator allowed him to work on his throwing. My little guy uses this every day, in conjunction with the jugs lite flite automatic pitching machine and corresponding balls, and we could not be happier. Will definitely be recommending this to other little league players. A great value, and we expect to get many years of use out of it. 5Perfect for Personal Batting and Pitching Training.I spent a lot of time researching the PowerNet DLX and finally decided to make the purchase. When I got my PowerNet I was surprised by how compact the package was, but was happy with the wieght--not to heavy, but also not light enough to feel cheap. After unwrapping everything in the box, I followed the simple instructions and had the net up in under five minutes. The initial setup was super simple and tear-down is both intuitive and easy. The PowerNet can be set up by a single person without any difficulty. The rails and the netting material don't feel cheap, and the training ball has withstood a lot of punishment with full swings from both wood and composite bats. The pitching attachment is a small rectangular attachment with adjustable bands that can be be moved around the front of net to represent strike zones from players of differing height.I've used the PowerNet indoors and outdoors and have been satisfied with it in both environments. Indoors, the net works well, but will have to be adjusted after hitting a few balls unless you add some weight to the legs. Another issue is that the net tends to tilt backwards unless you add weight onto the legs. I added a 10lb dumbbell onto the front of both legs and the problem with tilting was solved. All that said, is easily set up in a single car garage without having to worry about doing any damage to walls and garage doors. Though the PowerNet can be used indoors, it really excels outdoors. The stakes provided are more than enough to keep the net stationary for soft toss and tee hitting. If you're looking for an easy to set up and highly portable hitting/pitching sock net, PowerNet DLX is a great option. 5Multi-Use NetThis works very well - we are even able to use it for multiple sports! We looked at a number of different options before landing on this one - but I'm glad we chose this one as it has been perfect for us!We purchased this to help my 9 year old daughter practice fast-pitch softball. She has a very smooth motion, but is still working on control & releasing the ball at the correct time. This works great for that! We were able to adjust the target area to match that of a U10 player so she's practicing throwing at the right height. Plus, the pocket gives her extra incentive to get close - if she's near the strike zone the ball will just drop into the pocket ... if she's wild she has to chase it down! :)My 14 year old son also uses this net for soccer practice. We have had to add weights to the support legs for this activity as the net falls over when he kicks it otherwise! There is a lot of flex in the net & it absorbs the impact well. He uses the net & target to work on his aim more than power (so he's not kicking it full-blast most of the time). All in all a very good net - we are very happy with our purchase! 5Batting practice anywhereWorks exactly as advertised, well made and sturdy, assembles in a few minutes stores easily in included carrying case. I bought it for my 7 year old grandson, the day it arrived started to rain so we disassembled and set it up in garage. I have him hitting off a "T" for 30 to 60 minutes a day depending on homework, but he loves it. There was only one adverse comment made in the reviews I read , regarding the net falling back from the impact of the ball being hit into the net. This did not occur with my grandson, they provide 4 stakes to secure it outdoors. I won't need them my garage 5Defective Strike Zone Attachment - Issued Solved by PowernetThe net and frame itself seem fine, but the included strike zone attachment was defective. It can be seen sold separately here: PowerNet Strike Zone Attachment For 7x7 Baseball Net. The nylon straps that the loops slide on to adjust the strike zone placement were obviously subjected to excessive heat, (probably when heat-shrinking the loops themselves). This made them brittle and one broke when I tried adjusting the size of the strike zone. Both straps show this defect, but the one pictured on the right is much worse than the other. Amazon said I have to return all parts and order another. I hope the second one will not have this defect.Update: changed to 5 star. Powernet sent me another Strike Zone Attachment free of charge. I didn't have to involve Amazon. 5GREAT NET FOR BASEBALL TRAINING!!The Powernet was delivered quickly. Yesterday was the first time for me a 5 feet tall 70 year old grandma setting it up for my grandson. The instruction was pretty simple, but being that it was my first time, it was a little confusing. I put all the poles together, then I realized that I cannot put the net on being the pole was too tall for me,. Finally I took half the poles off, slip the net on, then slip in the second pole. I then bend the pole a little and attached the white loop on the top. I am sure someone taller than me will not have any issue setting It up. It took me about 20 minutes. I am sure future set ups will be easier and quicker for me. Take down was better and quicker for me.The net is good quality. The overall product is made well. I think it will last a long time. The target attachment help with the pitching. I am not sure what the weighted ball will do yet.My 8 year old grandson just started little league. I purchased this to improve his pitching, batting and throwing. He thinks it is the greatest thing. He is having so much fun with it. He practiced pitching and batting into the net. It did not move or fell over. I did not even use the spikes to hold it down. I love that it is portable. You can take it down, put it in the sturdy bag and go any where it it. This is a wonderful product and i am very happy that i purchased it. 5Great size net with not so good carry bagGreat value buy. I would give it a 4.5/5. For the past two years all I had seen is BowNets were the most preferred among the softball leagues in the Socal area. But its beginning to change for the past season or so with PowerNet. The biggest downside was the carry bag that would rip within a few days of use which was slightly thicker than your clothing store carry bags. With DLX , the red colored carry bag has a lining but it is still insufficient to withstand the outdoor use on the fields under elements. The net itself seems to be of good quality and the 7'x7' size is something we all love. I have seen the net tip over on heavy winds a few times and the hooks to secure the legs to ground seems to help. But, the problem is the hooks tend to get lost and it will be nicer if they come attached to the legs that can be pulled out and anchored to the ground when needed. The bundle for $110 comes with strike zone and impact training ball., which I am starting to like. The strike zone tape is useful to get the younger kids in throwing and rookie pitchers to practice by aiming for the right spot. Unfortunately., mine snapped on the first use upon tightening the buckle. In the past week since purchase, my daughters want to practice swinging with impact balls and not the wiffle balls any more. Can't say how the impact training balls compare with other brands but I foresee it becoming a staple item for backyard practice with limited space. Overall a good buy., it will be nicer if the manufacturer improves the stability of legs for nets and sturdier carry bag. 4Don't think...just buy it. You'll thank yourself later. My son has been playing baseball for seven seasons and my daughter just started playing softball this year. In the spring, I swear it looks like we're running a baseball clinic at our house with all the equipment we've accumulated over the years. A couple of seasons ago, we bought a practice net like this one from a big box sporting goods store in town. It was okay but it generally took both my son and I to get it put up quickly without much frustration. Well last season the frame broke so we were in the market for a new net. This one had excellent reviews so we pulled the trigger and picked it up.Holy cow this net is amazing. The small picture in the product description does not do this thing justice at all. What you can't tell from the picture is the thickness of the poles on the bottom of the frame or the sides. The bottom is very thick (about the side of a quarter...give or take) and the side poles are much thicker and sturdier than our previous net. The best part about this is it is so easy to put up and take down by yourself if you follow the steps in the directions. I can do it by myself in 2-3 minutes. The net itself is very high quality as well. Another thing that is often over looked in reviews is the storage bag and that was made well also with plenty of room for all the pieces so you don't feel like you're stuffing everything in there. The bag also has nice long straps to carry it with and made it much more comfortable to haul across parking lots and baseball fields with the rest of the gear. Overall this was an excellent purchase and I'm confident this thing will see many more seasons in our household. 5Should have got this years ago!We always have trouble getting any substantial batting practice in during our field time. This net helps keep the practice moving along efficiently. As for the product, it is excellent. You won't need the hold-down spikes unless you are in a hurricane. I tested it on my wood deck and it never budged. Practice with 12 boys went smoothly. The net is hefty. The frame is substantial. Give yourself 3 minutes to take down and put up after your first time. Packs away nicely in the bag. We also fit 2 special training bats in the bag with no problem. I can't compare this to other manufacturer's, but I can say that you won't go wrong with this one. I may buy another one for an outfield throwing target as an additional practice station. 5
