Customer Reviews

Could not be more pleased!I only received mine today, but feel compelled to write a little sumthin' sumthin', though there is not much that is not covered by other reviewers and youtube videos. I am posting photos mainly, because there doesn't seem to be many of this particular model.First impressions: The watch comes in a nifty little box. Worth holding on to if you don't have a watch case. I knew I needed to add a photo showing the dome of the crystal. This is one of the things that drew me to this watch, trying to recapture the beauty of an old 60's-era Omega Seamaster I use to own and subsequently had to sell after my divorce. It also has a domed face which I couldn't seem to catch it with my camera, but is visible to the naked eye.The photo showcasing the domed crystal also shows the unsigned crown. No extravagance here...it would have been a nice touch, but at this price point is not expected. There is a signed buckle.Another couple of photos just to compare this watch to the sizes of a couple other dress/casual watches...my Hamilton Khaki and Tissot Perpetual Date (quartz). Comparing the bands, I can see and smell a higher quality of leather on the Hamilton and Tissot, but in all reality these are 2 time pieces costing more than twice what I paid for this Orient. The other thing that drew me to this particular watch was the blue hands on white face. I was looking at a Citizen watch with the same color scheme, but read complaints that the blue hands only showed blue under the right light. That might be the same with this watch, but this piece...with its classic dress watch look and being an automatic (for which the accuracy I cannot attest to, yet) won the battle to me.I could not be more pleased with my purchase!5Feliz con mi Orient Bambino FAC0000N0Primero que todo me gust mucho su caja, es bastante elegante y bien presentada. I thought I was definitely going to love this watch. However, I personally think that the dial is way too big for a dress watch. I bought it in the white variant and there is also a green tinge on the dial. The domed mineral crystal feels really cheap and the band that comes with it is terrible! I do think the brushing and polishing looks good but otherwise, I personally would not recommend this watch. For a little bit more money, you could get the Tissot Le Locle and I think that watch is night and day compared to this watch.2One of the best Automatic's you can purchase in this price rangeGonna get the 2 cons out of the way first.1. It's very large for a dress watch. If they were to bring the diameter down to 38mm I think it would be perfect, but unfortunately fashion watches these days are all large. If you want a more traditional automatic dress watch that is smaller however, you'll have to go vintage and gamble on its condition, and possibly pay quite a bit more.2. It rattles a bit. I own a few Automatic watches (vintage Bulova, vintage Omega, a Seiko SKX, etc), and they all have a small amount of rattle which is to be expected. However this is more noticeable. It's not that bad, but I was almost worried there was something wrong at first. Also, not a con, but the strap isn't all that great. If you like crop leather it isn't so bad, but I replaced it.Pros1. Very nice polish all around. All numerals and accents are placed evenly, the face is clean of any blemishes, and the case was pristine. The individual tick marks that surround the edge of the face are very crisp, it reminds me of a nautical instrument.2. The lens. It has a very large raised lens, which I appreciate because it pays homage to older vintage watches. It almost reminds me of a ship's windows because of its curvature. However, that means it can be more easily damaged because of how pronounced it is. While not sapphire, its held up fairly well so far. I wear it every few days and never while in uniform. The risk is worth it, its eyecatching.3. The movement. I'm no expert on a horology nor the Orient Cal 48743 movement this watch has, but so far it has been more than serviceable and hasn't gained or lost any significant time. Being able to manually wind the watch is an amazing feature and something I miss when I wear my gshock or my Seiko SKX (which is automatic but you can't wind! Biggest criticism of that great watch). The date has always been accurate as well, provided you set the watch correctly for the month (different months have a different number of days obviously)4. Water resistance. I haven't swam with this watch, and I wouldn't recommend that at all. However I've done the dishes a few times without thinking and there's been no issue. I question if this truly is 30M rated, I'd want to see someone test that actually. But like I said, it's been rained on and soaked in soapy water without issue.Overall:It would be very difficult to do better for less than $200, or the $140 I paid for that matter. This watch is perfect for casual business settings or on a college campus. Could fit with a lot of different aesthetics I think. For the cost I paid, it's not disposable but I feel like I can wear it without worrying to much about damaging it.5Time to sell my overpriced 'showpiece watches'!What a pleasant surprise! I have to admit that my expectations weren't very high when I purchased this watch. But, Man, I am blown away by the visual aesthetics, the feel of quality as well as the accuracy of this Orient Bambino. It is running 4 seconds fast within a 24 hour period. That is comparable to watches I own that are 40X's the price. And, the price has dropped $16.00 since I bought it last week!Surprises: Orient did a fantastic job with the design! The dial, alone, is absolutely stunning in that it combines the new,( Rose gold tone Roman numerals for the hour markers) and, the old,( art deco Arabic numerals printed on the outer chapter ring for the '05, 10, 15, sec., etc.) All of which are accentuated by the vintage looking domed crystal. The case is very well thought out as well. It has a polished, tapered bezel over a brushed/satin case side that extends out to the lugs, creating a layered side profile which I find very appealing. I also like the over sized 'cupcake' crown which makes adjusting the time/date easy for man sized fingers. The strap also surpassed my expectations. It's quite comfortable, easy to find the perfect fit and I like the color which is dark brown with a nice burgundy tint, that compliments the rose tone hands/numerals on the dial. The signed buckle is a nice touch as well.Con's: If I had to nitpick, and I am..the date window could have been a tad larger. Other than that, I'm blown away by the amount of quality at this price point. It looks great with a dress shirt or a tee. As someone mentioned, the dial does have just a hint of mint in the right light. Well done, Orient. This is my third Orient and, it will most definitely not be my last. Time to sell the overpriced 'showpiece watches'!5Decent watch - fair priceThis is my 4th watch in my collection, my 1st formal dress watch and my 2nd automatic. It is what I expected after reading reviews and watching videos. I m happy with it, but I won t say I m completely blown away...The rotor is a bit loud, but not really noticeable when wearing it. The dial appears to have a green hue, perhaps caused by the glass, but I can live with it.I wish the crown was signed and the case back was clear, but I liked this dial better than the newer generations. I changed the band to an inexpensive 21mm I found.I needed a dress watch to wear with a suit and all roads seem to point to this one. I feel this is fashionable and respected enough to wear around a variety of crowds. It s not too trendy or too flashy. I think it works well in my best bang for your buck collection.4... don't know how Orient can even make a watch like this at this price pointThis watch is phenomenal and I just don't know how Orient can even make a watch like this at this price point. Everything about this watch is "just right" and is among the most favorite of all my watches. The blue hand it beautiful and contrast very well with the dial, which has a slight green tint to it. At 40.5mm in diameter, I think that this is the perfect size for a modern dress watch. Many people are saying that 37mm or 38mm is more "original" to the vintage look, but this is 2017, not 1955. Also, this watch get many knocks for the leather band. I just happen to think that the leather band is really nice and fit the watch very well. Yes, it is not fine italian leather or anything, but it's much better than what people are saying out there on the internet. I have taken a few shots of this watch and hopefully people can get an idea of how beautiful this watch really is. Last but not least, maybe I got lucky, but my watch runs about 1sec fast a day. Performance is just amazing!5Hands down one of the best affordable automatic watches out thereHands down one of the best affordable automatic watches out there. Orient has done a great job with this watch. It looks way costlier than it is.The design is slim, simple and elegant. That slightly lifted crystal dome with blue hands looks absolutely stunning. The attention to every single detail is impeccable.Only complaint is that the strap could have been just a little bit better but for this price, you can t really complain. If you are just starting to get into watches or want to buy an affordable automatic watch, this js the watch for you. You cannot get a better value for money.5Orient has made winner! It blows me away that they can sell this watch in this price range. Love the domed crystal, the windable and hackable movement, the the dial is simply stunning. It is obvious some corners had to be cut in order to get it in this price range. There isn't a signed crown, mineral crystal and not sapphire, but the one thing I'm a little disappointed about is that their isn't an exhibition case-back. Not the worst thing but it would have been a nice touch(I would have given this 5 stars if it had the exhibition case-back). Overall, this is a beautiful watch with a great in-house Japanese movement. As far as value dress watches go, this is definitely at the top of the list. They have many different variations to make anyone happy.4My first big boy watch! This is my first nice watch. I've had fake nice watches in the past, but all quartz stuff that didnt hold up well. First things first, it tells time! Accurately! i i know, surprising! i thought watches were just for looks! well this one is quite accurate. in 3 months i have yet to need to adjust the time. i wear it almost every day, and it's held up well. so far no scratches, even after a few bumps that definitely would have scratched my cheapo watches. but thing thing take a licking and keeps on ticking! oh no, trademark infringement! sue me! seriously though, it's a tough watch so far. the band looks new other than having more of a curve to it from being worn. i get compliments on it constantly. i even had a watch snob stop me to say the Bambino was his first big boy watch! he was sporting a rolex, by the way... he did of course tell me all the watches i should buy after this one as i work my way up the watch snobbery ladder. but you know what? i'm ok on the bottom rung, i guess. because i have zero....ZERO urge to upgrade. now dont get me started on photography and audio, i'll snob you to death! but for watches, i'm pretty sure my first will be my last. hmmm that sounds kinda dirty...oh well....5
