Customer Reviews

Awesome pedalsThese pedals are a wonderful value for the money. I am normally clipped in but wanted to give flats a try. These pedals offer great grip, the pins are well placed and I like that they are accessible from the opposite side. The composite body seems strong and durability will tell. So far on two rides with a good amount of hits, they have held up well. Also, I am not "light on the bike." The platforms seems to be very sturdy and I have not noticed any flex.Pros: Lightweight, good grip, rebuildable, scratches still keep colorCons: No grey color.5Excellent value......Well made product.I could not afford a $200 pedal so my wife did my research. She found the CrankBrothers Stamp 1 for my cruiser. It came in 9/16's and I needed 1/2 for the axle. So we continued the search for an item to make the dimension change at a reasonable cost. Yep. She found it. An extension from 1/2 to 9/16 and this helps with the hip, knee and ankle alignment. The Stamp 1 is perfect for the cruiser. Very easy to install and clearly marked for right and left. "No" you say. Take a few minutes and check the threaded end of the axle with the 8mm Allen socket. Laser etched between the socket opening and the threads is the tiny R and the tiny L. I tried to rub it off thinking it was lint, but I was wrong. The composite material of the pedals are made perfect. No blemishes or discoloration of any kind. The cleats are very easy to replace and can be ordered from CrankBrothers. Good job. So now this retired, over 70, Grandpa can cruise the neighbor hood and still get a little hang time off the curb with the fat tire trike.5a great pedalMy new Fat Tire mountain bike has decent pedals, but big boots require BIG pedals. And cold weather riding requires big boots!Well made and durable - these are the real deal. The traction is good - I never slip off the pedal and they clean up well.Nice clean design and smooth lines - an attractive addition to my already great looking bike.5So far, so good.Did 30 miles this morning with them. Smooth and silent. Mount now is quicker than clipped pedals. There is a left and right pedal with a small line to differentiate. Only thing I noticed is that while standing over the top tube now at a stop, if the pedals are facing my leg and you touch the pedal, you're going to get jabbed with the cleats. I've dropped the height nearly to half trying to not tear up the bottom of my running shoes.5Best grip on a flat pedal you'll find!!These pedals have insane grip. I have been looking for replacements to my Deity pedals, but struggled to find anything that had the same grip as the Deity's. I was skeptical, but knew that Crank Brothers are highly revered. I am so glad that I chose these Stamp 3 pedals for my Evil Insurgent. My confidence skyrocketed after the first ride, with improved downhill times, and the grip needed in the technical sections. The Stamp 3's are my new favorite pedals yet.5Rock solid with excellent grip! When paired with five ten freeriders you cannot get any closer to being clipped in without actually doing so. I have 10.5 shoe and the smalls were perfect with still a reasonable amount of room to spare. I would say unless you have a very large foot the smalls may be the better choice for clearance etc. It seems part of the difference in the models is the thickness so that a 7 is thinner than a 3. I have the 3 s, ride in rocky New England and have noted minimal strikes with size small so that in my mind the price:benefit ratio is not worth moving up to the 7s. I use CBs on all my bikes road and mtb, platform and clip and have always been nothing but satisfied.5An Instant FavoriteA better platform I have not used, these Crank Brothers Stamp 7's have instantly become my favorite. Tons of area make for an extremely stable foot position. Super slim profile helps prevent unintended contact with whatever terrain you're on. Spend most of my time on technical XC trails but would not hesitate to attack some downhill with these. Tend to ride with hiking shoes most of the time and the adjustable cleats have yet to wreck the outsoles. A perfect upgrade for my Scott Scale 740.5A beginners perspective + sizing photosLet me preface this review by stating that I've only been riding for about 8 months now. I have no experience with clipless. I was previously just using the stock plastic pedals, so in reality any pedals would have delivered a significant improvement in my riding. That being said, here's my rundown. Specs included for reference.Pedal: Stamp 7, LargeSince purchase: 87.2 miles over 13 rides.Bike: Roscoe 8 (Hardtail)Shoe in Photo: US Men's Nike Metcon 2, Size 10.1. Grip - The adjustable pins took 2-3 rides to get used to. At first, I felt like they were too grippy. I couldn't adjust my foot position through corners, etc. as easily, but after adapting to the grip, it's far superior. The pedals do not lose traction through water/mud/climbing.2. Durability - I've had a few pedal strikes, the most recent creating sparks. There are no bends/dents in the structure. Some of the paint has scratched/nicked, but that's understandable in my opinion.3. Flush Mount - This factors into the size consideration when purchasing. The pedals are flush mounted to the crank arm, so there is no .75-1 inch pedal spindle arm gap between the inner edge of the pedal and the crank arm. Perhaps this wouldn't matter to a more experienced rider but I noticed that I initially was scrubbing the crank arm with my shoes. Why is this important? I think buying the LARGE gave my the extra room needed to adjust to the gap and find stable footing without scrubbing.4. SIZE - This was the biggest hangup for me when purchasing. I'm a 10-10.5 depending on the shoe, so I'm right on the line for the small vs large. I opted for the large and could not be happier. If you're on the line between the small and large, I would highly recommend the LARGE.Since purchasing these, I have seen major improvements in overall riding performance and confidence trying new stuff, like jumps etc.Hope that helps,Cheers.5They feel like Im locked in.I've been using clipless pedals for almost 20 years, even on technical rides. Recently I've had minor tendon issues & was told to stop using them, until I healed. I decided to try these, since my clipless pedals are also Crank Bros, and I've always loved them.I also had to get shoes, since none of mine were designed for flat pedals. I ordered a pair of Five Ten Men's Freerider Cycling Shoe, Dark Grey/Orange, 10 M US and, together they felt as if I were still clipped in.My feet stay where they need to, but I can pull them off instantly, so I'm actually hitting turns & technical areas harder than I used to. I've decided to switch all my mountain bikes to these & only lock in on my road bike. The only thing I regret is all the money that I will now have wasted on great SPD MTB shoes & pedals.5I was a bit disappointed at how thick they areThe craftsmanship of the pedal is superb. You feel very solid and safe on them. I was a bit disappointed at how thick they are. I'm a very experienced rider and I had 6 small pedal strikes on the first ride. I was coming from a slimmer pedal that I had 1000+ mi on. I have since made some adjustments to my riding style and seem to have overcome the pedal strikes but the point is that little extra thickness did make a difference. The grip on these pedals are incredible. I could almost say its too much. Its very hard to adjust your foot placement when riding (I use 510 shoes). So when its placed properly you love it. When it isn't then its frustrating because you cant move it easily. I am going to try adjusting the studs lower and see how much that helps. The pedal is LARGE. I have a size 12 foot. I wish I could try the smaller size. These are larger than any traditional pedal Ive used. With all that being said I really do like the pedals. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because there was no way to tell how thick the pedal was before I purchased it and if I did know that I probably would have went with something different.4
