Customer Reviews

Warm, comfortable, and stylishI just received them and they are very comfortable and VERY warm out of the box. I wear a 10 and bought a 10 and they are true to size. They are snug with a thicker sock but not uncomfortable. I think if you have unusually wide feet they may be a bit too narrow but they are definitely worth trying. I will be putting them to the test this winter so I will update after I have some more time wearing them. I love the look of these boots and spent a lot of time researching before settling on these. The most important things for me were comfort, warmth, waterproof and I didn t want a bulky boot. These could be worn anywhere.EDIT:I ended up returning the 10 after wearing them around the house. They were a bit too snug. I got the 10.5 (half size up) and they re perfect.First time wearing them while hiking (3 or 4 miles) and fishing for a full day and they were comfortable and warm out of the box. Temps were in the 40s and I was wearing normal socks and stayed warm even while standing in water. They are definitely water proof. Not sure about the other reviews saying that the water proof wears off. Time will tell, but I can say with 100% certainty that they are waterproof out of the box. See pictures. My feet were bone dry after being submerged in a river and in mud.5Great boots! Comfy, flexible, keep you warm while activeI really like these boots. They are exactly what I was looking for. Easy to put on, comfortable, and reasonably warm. The omni-heat reflective fabric on the interior does what it's designed to do. It doesn't generate warmth, but it does help trap and reflect radiant heat back to your body. They aren't great at creating warmth though. Nothing really is. They have some insulation, but they aren't big and bulky, and designed to keep you warm while standing around in extreme cold. They'll keep you warm and dry if you're out for a winter walk or hike. They'll keep you warm while out shoveling snow or perhaps doing some form of cold-weather construction. They aren't a steel-toe, so they might not be best for that though. In any case, they are pretty good at trapping and retaining warmth while you're active. With proper wool socks in the winter they get even better. With a nice thick pair of wool socks they are probably good enough to stand around for a few hours watching men use their hands to throw and catch an egg while calling it FOOTball. I'm not sure those thick socks would be comfy on a cold weather hike. The material is nice and flexible and doesn't require any breaking in as is common to leather boots. I'm sure it makes them less durable in the long run, but I hope it is a few years before I find that point. Unless you have flat feet the footbed / insole is useless. Toss it out and buy something designed for the shape of your feet. Any shoe or boot will benefit from an insole which fits your feet properly. I have high arches, so the flat insole was utterly useless.I feel these run true to size. I usually wear a men's US 9.5. These weren't available in a 9.5 so I bought a 10 and they feel a half size large.4Great everyday cold weather boots, not the best for below 20f.I love these boots. They are very comfortable, almost sneaker like weight. Great everyday boots for under 50-60F. Looks very nice with jeans, not too bulky.I used them in snow around 20F, and they were not very warm after few hours.5All encompassing!I purchased these for my husband. He is a size 12 and we ordered a size 12. They fit true to size. If you want to layer a thicker sock, you may want to size up a half size. However, he did NOT need to wear thick socks. We live in FL and visited DC, NYC and Maine for the holidays. His feet stayed dry, warm and most of all comfortable. No break in period needed. Comfy from the start. Walked through puddles, feet stayed dry. Didn't get the chance to try in the snow. They are very sleek and stylish as well and really do not even look like a winter boot. These were a huge hit with him. Highly recommended.5The BEST winter snow boots I've EVER HAD!Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!Warm! Waterproof! COMFORTABLE! I haven't used them through the entire winter season yet, so the durability of the waterproofing is still questionable (in my experience, waterproofing usually deteriorates over time), however, they've made it through a couple of torrential rains. The Omni-Heat lining is awesome for warmth - sometimes a bit too warm, in fact, if thick synthetic fiber socks are worn. And did I mention comfortable? These are the first pair of winter boots that I could actually RUN in - they are like sneakers! Change the laces to black and they are suitable for the workplace, too. Fingers crossed that Columbia doesn't discontinue this model. Well done, Columbia! No, I don't work for them, but I do like almost every article of Columbia clothing that I've owned.5Extremely good at what it is- a versatile and warm winter shoe bootieI was looking for a shoe/boot for regular life, walking around Denver in a particularly snowy winter. I wanted the following:1. Warmth- I have lousy circulation in my hands and feet because of medication. These boots are a lot warmer than a tennis shoe or my go-to Timberland Earthkeeper hiking boots. They are perfect for being outdoors in 10-40 degree (F) weather. They are overly warm and my feet get a bit sweaty when it gets warmer or if I am wearing them indoors for extended periods. But they do breathe so it's not too bad. Overall they hit the sweet spot.2. Support- My ankle ligaments are chewing gum at this point and will roll/sprain at the drop of a hat. These boots give a decent amount of support if you lace them tight. Not as much as I'd want for a hike but perfect for going around town or shoveling snow.3. Traction- the sole is light and doesn't have very thick tread, which means it will probably wear out quickly. However, the soft rubber is ideal for traction on snow and ice.4. Vaguely Fashionable- These don't look like big clunky snowboots. They look pretty good with jeans or khakis like a nice high top shoe or mid-hiker boot. I got the olive green ones and it is a nice neutral color that goes with anything.5. Comfort/fit- probably the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. At first the area above the arch was tight- a common issue for me as I have high arches,- but after a bit of wear that wasn't a problem. The quilted padding means it should break in and accomodate different foot shapes. The size was spot on. I habe slightly wide feet and it was fine, again, the insulation means the shoes have give.So for my needs these boots are awesome. They can kind of do it all pretty well. I can walk around in the snow and then go to a restaurant or bar and look decently nice and be comfortable and warm but not overly. If any of your needs are more extreme, they might not be good for you. They aren't suitable for wearing with a suit, or for an Everest expedition. But no footwear is.5THESE ARE LEGIT!!! I purchased these last minute for Pennsylvania archery season. Wanted something for cold weather that was also not too bulky to be wearing in a small tree stand. These are beyond perfect. I ordered a half size up so I could fit a thick sock but now I doubt I ll need any thick socks they are warmer than any of my insulated boots including my muck boots. These are waterproof yet breathable which you can feel with each step. The comfort level is 10/10. Going to get a few family members pairs I love them so much. Overall anything Columbia I ve ever owned is built to last. The Omni-heat lining is some next level stuff. Spend the extra money you will not regret it!5ACTUAL non-paid customer review!!I couldn't find the Fairbanks Omni-Heat Hiking boots in women's size, so I tried 2 sizes down from the men's size. They fit great. I do wish they were a tad wider in the ball-of-the-foot area. The boots have these silver dots inside (thermal-heat-reflective lining), which helps radiate heat. I find them warm except in extreme conditions (e.g. single digits F). I got them because a friend has them and said they felt like bedroom slippers. I concur, they're quite comfy. They don't have a steel shank and are lightweight. I've worn them for a month or so in snow and slush. They are waterproof. I found the sole a little slippery in icy slush, however.(I am not a paid reviewer. I have purchased this product and received no compensation for this review)5Waterproof does not last longThis Columbia shoes are great! I have been wearing them for 2 seasons now. There are really warm, light and comfortable as advertised. BUT they lost their water resistant very quick, and I haven't cleaned them with any chemicals or anything. Now my feet get wet even at the slightest water spatter.4Best winter boots of 2018Bold claim I just made in the headline, but ordered about 7 pairs of boots from brands that include Columbia, Ugg, North Face, Danner, and more. These were by far the lightest, truest to fit, and most comfortable - not to mention one of the cheapest I tested (purchased in black for $104 on Amazon). I'm a 12 most times but wear a 13 running shoe. These fit true to 12.I put them on and unlike other brands, these felt like slippers. They had support but no break in period was required. Also loved that they don't have boot lace hooks that constantly come untied like the Danners I tested. I wore these Columbia boots around the house for two days and then we had a blizzard in KC so put them to the test in 28 degree temps, shoveling, snow blowing and playing with kids in a foot of snow for hours. My feet stayed warm and completely dry.Today I had to run out shopping and they were fine walking indoors for hours. Breathable enough indoors and warm enough in 18 degree temps outdoors in short bursts.I can't speak to durability, but I don't plan to beat them up. Best purchase I've made in a long time. In retrospect, and after testing boots twice the price, I would have been fine paying $150-$200 for these boots. Great value.5
