Customer Reviews

UPDATE - RUNTIME ADDED Adequate safety light, NOT a primary headlight For what it is listed as , which is a safety light (check Blitzu's advertising and description), it is definitely not bad. If you are looking for a light as your primary light, please look elsewhere. This is definitely a light for BEING SEEN, not SEEING WITH. I will attach photos of the light in darkness at 10', 25', 50', and 75'. Seems that most people haven't seen what this thing looks like in the darkness. I am currently in the process of searching for a primary headlight, and currently use a trail-running light strapped to my helmet. I do the majority of my cycling on bike paths and suburban streets. I also attached a video at 75' of the High flash mode for reference.Pros:Definitely a bright safety light. Bright enough to be seen from all angles, without being so bright that you are in danger of blinding fellow cyclists, pedestrians, or motorists.Simple installation. Goes right on the bike in less than 5 seconds.Multiple options for installation. 4 different options.Easy to use. Light starts up in solid mode, press and hold for flashing strobe mode. 1 second press to turn off.Cons:Extremely bright on the peripherals of the light. There is definitely more than 180 degrees of light on each axis. Much closer to 270 degrees. If you have it mounted up on your handlebars, you will be in danger of blinding yourself. I mounted mine vertically on the head tube, so I don't have to worry about it.As stated above, and you can see in the attached pictures, this IS NOT meant to be a primary light source. You will struggle to see more than 15'-20' in darkness. If you are looking for a primary, I would highly recommend looking for something with between 600-800 lumens.Cheap feel. The USB port cover flexes if pressure is put on it. But, since this is <$20, I'm willing to accept some misses in fit and finish, as long as it functions properly.I will update this review once I see how long the battery lasts. I have been riding with it on the High flash mode.**Update - Average runtime has been about 2 ish hours. It still emits light after 2 hours, but not to the point that I would consider it effective to use. I have been using it in flashing mode, either Medium or High. I do not use the strobe. I have no reservations about this light. Again, great as a safety light. You will be seen, and you won't run the risk of blinding people. The USB charging works excellently. Do not spend money on lights that require you to use replaceable batteries. It's not worth your money. Get one that you can recharge. No issues recharging.** 5One of the BEST purchases of safety equipment for my bike I've made!I use this as a front headlight in conjunction with a couple of Aduro red lights on the rear as safety lights on my bike. As my statement in my review of the Aduro's indicates, this is one of the BEST purchases of safety equipment for my bike that I've made. Used as a headlight, this light puts out more than enough light forward for my late evening and early morning rides. And it has several strobe options as well to capture the attention of drivers on the road. It's also easily seen from the side view. I have a multi-port USB hub that I use as a charger for all three lights and I keep them charged up there until I need them for a ride. The rubberized universal mount that comes with the light makes it easy to mount in several places on the bike and the light itself can mount in both the horizontal or vertical position. The ONLY reason I'm giving this light a 4star and not a 5star rating is because of the price. I purchased this light for $18.82 on Amazon compared to the two Aduro Rechargeable Pro Sport LED Rear Bike Lights that I also simultaneously bought on Amazon for $9.98 apiece. They look and weigh 'almost' exactly the same except for the color of course. They mount, charge up, and operate 'exactly' the same. So I wasn't necessarily thrilled that I had to basically pay double for the Blitzu Cyborg as a headlight. Now I see it's gone up in price a little more even. When this one eventually plays out, I'll probably look for a decent substitute rather than pay $25+ for this light again. But if it stays within the <$18 range, I'll definitely buy again. Other than that, I'm thrilled with the purchase and it's performance! It's still a good buy! 4Great lights, bright, very noticeable for daytime riding and early dusk (update: lower star rating)Purchased both front (white) and rear (red) Super Bright Blitzu Cyborg lights for my new road/hybrid bike. Great lights, bright, very noticeable for daytime riding, even early dusk. I use the white/front on steady and my rear/red on regular/slow flash. Seem to work great and I've not been even close to hit by a car, and I ride on very winding, hilly country roads in New Hampshire. Did a lot of research lights before I purchased these from Amazon and really feel like they do a great job of getting me that extra bit of notice coming around a corner or when obscured by shadow or roadside bushes and trees.Easy and quick to charge via the short USB cable, but have to remember to take them off the bike after each ride to ensure that they're ready to go for the next one. But the charge seems to last for a long time and I haven't come close as far as I know to running out on my couple hour rides. If I had any quibble at all it would be that the "locking" mechanism by which they attachment to the bike is a bit fiddly. The rubber strap itself is good and solid, but the small square plastic slot the light back fits into is difficult to get the light into sometimes in a tight space, such as on the seat seat post between the top tube and the carry bag under the saddle. I can make it lock in with a bit of fussing each time, but it's not a simple snap and go as it is with the front light which has more room.----- Updated 3.25.2016 -----Changing my rating from 5 to 4 stars: This morning when taking off both lights to charge for a ride tomorrow, the plastic retaining clip snapped on one (it had already on the other). This makes both lights now, front and back, without any kind of fastener to keep the light in the slotted holder, other than gravity and friction. Neither of these breakages are from wear and tear as they've only been taken out a few times for charging since adding them to the bike. I'm trusting they'll both stay in during future rides, but will be returning one or both if they pop out and I can't rely on them to stay attached to the bike. 4Update-problemI have had more than a dozen (expensive) rechargeable lights. I wanted a light that would have very good flashing (strobing) capability and would be unobtrusive on my (wonderful Trek carbon) mountain bike. I tried the Performance 380 lumen flashing/regular light and I was rather large and obtrusive. This light flashes very nicely, is quite bright, and relatively unobtrusive. I want it to be unobtrusive so that it doesn't get stolen. I used twisty ties so that it can't be snatched, even though it is not likely to be stolen where I live. Because I don't want it to be obtrusive, I put black electrical tape across the white part on the top of the light so that it is less obtrusive. One point. The lens is clear, and extends over the side of the light. I get some brightness in my face but I can deal with that. So, this light is a perfect addition to my 1) NiteRider (on my handlebar) and my Cygolite on my helmet. BTW, I ride all winter long (in Denver), so I need plenty of light in the dark or when there is ice.Update: I contacted customer service four times in the last ten days about the glare into my eyes from the light operating in horizontal mode and have had no response 5WARNING!!! READ WHOLE HONEST REVIEWAfter seeing other reviews, i think some clarification is needed so read entire review please. First off lets try to avoid confusion about this light. To all of those considering purchase of this light for use as an illuminating HEADLIGHT. This light is NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH to be used as a headlight to illuminate the road at night. This 168H headlight is less than 200 lumens, and you want at the very least 350+ lumens if you need to see where you're going. This light is great at making you visible and alerting others by catching the attention of other people/drivers from a few hundred feet away at night or even daytime, but thats it. This is a safety light to warn others, and it is a great light, but it is not to light up the road for you. If you need something to light up the road for you, look for 350+ lumens. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, here is the rest of the review.Instead of rushing a review, I wanted to be as accurate as possible so I've waited a few weeks in order to really try this 168t tailight before giving an honest review. For the record, I bought both the 168T and 168H (Tail light and Headlight) and thus far i am happy with both. Even at the lowest setting, both lights can be seen during daytime. I have used them both for little over 3 hrs at a time at low setting without the battery running out.The lights can easily be tilted about 25-30 degrees to compensate for any off-angle of the handle bars or seat tube. I did not use them in the rain or in wet conditions yet so i cannot comment on that aspect. I did however mount the lights so that the charging port, and on/off switch on the light were facing down to prevent any buildup of liquids which could accidentally sip through the covers. All in all i am very happy with these lights, and for the price you really cant go wrong. 5HOLY CRAP IS THIS THING BRIGHT!!!I wanted a bright light for my bike. Too many zombies behind wheels of collision cages hurtling at me these days, so I wanted something to wake them up...and I was NOT disappointed. Fast strobe (we're talking epileptic seizure-inducing here), slow strobe (Lights out, uh-huh! Flash Flash Flash!), and solid on, with three different brightness settings - bright, very bright, and oh my god my retinas were just seared! All in a small package that looks cool...can't beat it! Thank you!UPDATE: Removing one star due to water. Take this thing inside - it's water resistant, but not waterproof! I live on a boat in San Francisco Bay - fog, humidity, sudden and unexpected horizontal rain - it tends to make this thing act erratically if left on the bars overnight in adverse weather. That said, once it's dried out, it functions great! Sadly, my bike took a swim off the dock when I walked it around a corner a little too fast, and once it was immersed in salt water, that's all she wrote for both the bike AND the light (salt water doesn't take too kindly to wheel bearings, either!) so make sure to keep it dry.Still, in your average commute, even during the rainy season, this light performs well. Just take it off and dry it out (I found that a hair dryer or one of those hand dryers in a restroom works wonders)...and don't try to light up the bottom of a marina! 4Does the job.Update:09/29/17: I have to take a star away. One annoyance I've had is not knowing when the battery is low and in need of charge. More than once I've been out and the light slowly dims to nothing. Would be nice if the orange light on the side flashed or did something for you to know it is in need of charging.Easy to use, super bright with 3 level settings. Only two issues, too long to place vertically in some spots, and like a few others have mentioned, it leaks light at the sides. I needed to replace a battery operated light I had for something rechargeable. I should note I'm not sure how bright this thing is in the dark as summer has the sun out pretty early and shutting fairly late. So far my use has been as a daytime light. Happy with my purchase so far. 42 x broken lights in 2 monthsI m an avid cyclist in southern Florida. I have had 3 of these front lights, and all 3 have broken. The last two lights broke within 1-2 months: The switch completely stopped working on one and the other one wouldn t turn off...then never turned on again. Prior to this both lights showed some moisture inside the light, although I never rode in any significant rain....maybe it was sweat, humidity, or spilled fluid from a bottle. I was able to return one for a refund (and bought another kind of front light), but the other one was out of the return date window. I would not reccomend these front lights for anyone who rides significant distances and depends on their equipment. 1Yes, it's brightFirst impression: Just arrived today after ordering it yesterday. Fast. Out of the box it turned on and I saw that it is just as bright as other reviewers have said. But it is probably not suitable as a headlight for night riding. But it is suitable for being seen by oncoming traffic, day or night. The flashing mode will get attention. I was surprised at how large the light is, and that made it unsuitable for mounting on my steering tube. It might work on a different bike. I was also concerned by how much the rubber would have to stretch to go there. So it is going on my handlebar. I will mount it vertically so the light does not distract me. Most of my riding will be on a paved path with other bikes and pedestrians, After seeing how noticeable other riders are with flashing headlights I decided to give this a try. It is charging now and will get it's first use either later today or tomorrow. If it performs less than expected I will update this review. Otherwise, I will stay with my five star review.Update: Got to use it on a ride yesterday for the first time. Mounting it vertically on the handlebar turned out not to be the best choice. It worked just fine but it looks strange due to its size. So I rotated the light and found that it is not as distracting (during the day) as I had anticipated. The on/off/mode button works strangely. To turn it off you have to hold it just long enough so you see the light start to fade. If you hold it too long the mode will change. I am still getting used to it. But it functioned will for a 90 minute ride. I am going to see just how long it runs before it needs a charge. More updates to follow. 5Won't turn offI want to like these lights. I purchased a headlight and a tail light from this company. I like that they are bright and rechargeable. After 2 weeks they are almost impossible to turn off. Trying to have the function change and the on/off button on the same button is too much. Especially considering that there is a lot of regular impact while cycling, which makes this weak in terms of design. Additionally, I am trying to figure out if they would be better with a battery that fails more gradually. It's nice that they stay bright. But having them shut off without warning on the way home is fairly inconvenient. I have back up lighting on my bike, but if you don't have that, they may not be for you. I have a 45 minute commute. So far, when I can get them to turn off, they get me through 2 to 3 days before needing to be charged. But they are still new, so I expect that to change 1
